I warmly welcome everyone to Govt. Degree College Chatroo, situated at remote part of district Kishtwar. Our college is a co-educational institution founded in 2008. A landmark institution, the college is the pride of this land, which is surrounded by dense forest with rich flora and fauna. The college provides higher education to socio-economically backward students of hilly and remote region of Chatroo, district Kishtwar. We believe that ‘The aim of education is the knowledge, not of facts, but of values’. Keeping this view in mind, we nourish intelligence and talent and cultivate human values and skills in our students. Our teaching staffs are vibrant academicians, committed to build character of our students through curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The college offers UG programmes of B.A, under NEP 2020, implemented from the academic session 2022-23. The candidates seeking admission shall have the choice to choose major, minor, multidisciplinary amongst the History, Urdu, English, Pol Science, Education, EVS, Persian.

The college cares for the individual development of each and every student. There is “mentor mentee system” in the college, under which each group is assigned a teacher mentor with the aim to recognise, identify, and fostering the unique capabilities of each student, by sensitizing teachers as well as parents to promote each student’s holistic development in both academic and non-academic spheres.

We accord prime importance to the behavioural discipline, moral integrity and cognitive developments of our students. NSS, Physical Education, Career Guidance Cell and different Clubs shall offer integrated services for the multi–facetted developments of our students. Our teachers strive to teach not only academic programmes but also life skills needed for students’ self-development with highly resourceful faculty.
